Zack Freesman
Associate Head Coach
Zack Freesman was hired as the associate head coach for the Florida Institute of Technology men’s basketball program in April 2025, joining Head Coach Will Murphy’s inaugural staff ahead of the 2025–26 season. Freesman brings more than 13 years of experience at the NCAA Division I level, including participation in four NCAA Tournaments, and is widely regarded for his strengths in recruiting, offensive strategy, and program development. At Florida Tech, he plays a key role in recruiting coordination, offensive planning, and overall program operations as the Panthers compete in the Sunshine State Conference.
Prior to arriving in Melbourne, Freesman served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Coastal Carolina University during the 2024–25 season, where he helped the Chanticleers improve their win total from the previous year. Before Coastal Carolina, he spent three seasons at Western Carolina University, where he was instrumental in the turnaround of the Catamounts men’s basketball program. Serving as offensive and special situations coordinator, Freesman helped guide Western Carolina to multiple top-four Southern Conference finishes and a postseason appearance in the College Basketball Invitational, while developing several all-conference players. His earlier experience includes stops at Winthrop University, where he helped the Eagles reach back-to-back NCAA Tournaments, and Virginia Commonwealth University, where he was part of a staff that advanced to the 2017 NCAA Tournament. A graduate of the University of North Florida with a master’s degree from VCU, Freesman is a South Florida native who brings extensive Division I experience and a proven recruiting background to Florida Tech.
