Will Murphy
Head Coach
Will Murphy was named the head coach of the Florida Institute of Technology men’s basketball program in April 2025, becoming the 12th head coach in program history as the Panthers prepare for the 2025–26 season. Murphy joined Florida Tech after a highly successful eight-year tenure at Wofford College, where he rose from director of basketball operations in 2017 to associate head coach in 2023. During his time with the Wofford Terriers, Murphy contributed to seven consecutive winning seasons, multiple postseason appearances, and national prominence for the program. Notably, the 2018–19 Terriers posted a 30-5 record, went undefeated (18-0) in Southern Conference play, won the conference tournament, and earned a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament, which included the school’s first NCAA Tournament victory. Murphy was widely recognized for his role in player development, recruiting, game planning, and scouting, and was named to the NABC Under Armour 30-Under-30 list following the 2019–20 season.
Before his successful stint at Wofford, Murphy spent the 2016–17 season at Wake Forest University as the director of player development and previously served three seasons in Winston-Salem as video coordinator and director of technology/scouting for the Demon Deacons. Murphy began his connection with Wake Forest as a student manager and later earned playing experience as a walk-on guard. He graduated from Wake Forest University in May 2013 with a degree in mathematical business. His broad background in coaching operations, player development, and competitive strategy positions him to lead Florida Tech’s men’s basketball program into its next era.
