William Chiles
Assistant Coach
William Chiles joined the University of South Florida men’s soccer staff as an assistant coach in May 2022 and enters his third season with the Bulls as a key member of the program. A Division I coaching veteran with more than a decade of experience, Chiles is primarily responsible for goalkeepers while also contributing to recruiting, player development, and match preparation. Since arriving in Tampa, he has helped guide USF to postseason success, including an appearance in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, while continuing to elevate the standard of goalkeeper play within the program.
Prior to USF, Chiles spent six seasons as an assistant coach at George Mason University, where he worked extensively with goalkeepers and helped develop professional talent, including a goalkeeper who later signed with Rhode Island FC. He also served four seasons as an assistant coach at Towson University, his alma mater, before the program was discontinued. In addition to his collegiate experience, Chiles has been active at the elite club level, serving as an ECNL goalkeeper coach with Florida Premier and previously coaching with Maryland United FC. As a player, Chiles was a standout goalkeeper at Towson, earning NSCAA Second Team All-America honors and First Team All-CAA recognition. He was selected in the first round of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by the Columbus Crew and played professionally in the USL. A native of Silver Spring, Maryland, Chiles holds multiple advanced degrees and a U.S. Soccer National C License, bringing a well-rounded, development-focused approach to his role with the Bulls.
