Walter Pitts
Assistant Coach
Walter Pitts, a 20-year coaching veteran, joined UCF women’s basketball ahead of the 2023–24 season as an assistant coach and director of player development. He previously held positions at Georgetown, Virginia, Jackson State, and in the NBA G-League with the Texas Legends. Pitts has worked with numerous standout athletes, including WNBA Draft picks Jocelyn Willoughby and Ameshya Williams-Holliday, and has coaching experience in both college and international basketball.
A native of Alabama, Pitts played at the University of Alabama and Tyler Junior College before a professional career in South America, where he won a league title. He later transitioned into coaching, building a reputation for player development across men’s and women’s programs. He earned a bachelor’s degree in human environmental science from Alabama and is a proud father and grandfather.
