Vicki Mitchell is the director and head coach of the University at Buffalo men's and women's cross country and track and field programs in Buffalo, New York, and entered her 27th year with the Bulls in 2025-26. She has led the programs since the 2002-03 season, overseeing all phases of cross country and track and field while directly coaching the women's cross country team and the middle- and distance-event groups.
Recent seasons under Mitchell have included both conference and national-level results. In 2024-25, Buffalo's men's and women's programs combined for three individual Mid-American Conference championships and 16 medals, and three athletes advanced to the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds. Zahra Amos became the sixth woman in school history to earn All-America honorable mention and the 14th UB student-athlete to compete at the NCAA Championships. Buffalo also placed 19 student-athletes on both the indoor and outdoor Academic All-MAC lists. In 2023-24, the men's and women's teams combined for six individual MAC titles during the indoor and outdoor seasons, with four athletes qualifying for the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds. Both teams earned USTFCCCA Academic Team honors in cross country and track and field, and 28 athletes received All-MAC academic recognition. In 2022-23, freshman Vassianna Klock posted top-10 marks in program history in the 1000 meters and 3,000-meter steeplechase, qualified for the MAC Championships in the 800 meters, and scored at the outdoor conference meet as the women's team improved its finishes at the indoor and outdoor MAC championships.
