Vetu Mam is the head coach of the Portland State men’s tennis program, entering his seventh season leading the Vikings in 2025–26 after taking over prior to the 2019–20 campaign. Since assuming the role, Mam has focused on building competitiveness within the program, guiding the team to multiple seasons with seven or more wins and a Big Sky Conference Tournament appearance. His leadership has contributed to steady development across the roster, including coaching several players to strong individual singles performances and All-Big Sky recognition. One of his most notable early achievements came in 2021, when he led the Vikings to a 7-10 overall record and a 3-1 mark in conference play, earning a berth in the Big Sky Championship tournament.
Before becoming head coach, Mam was closely connected to the Portland State program, serving as a volunteer assistant from 2015 to 2018 and helping the team reach the Big Sky Tournament in 2018. A former Viking student-athlete himself, Mam competed for PSU during the 2010–11 seasons. Beyond collegiate tennis, he represented Cambodia on the international stage, competing in the Davis Cup from 2012 to 2015 and participating in the Futures Tour across Asia. His playing experience at both collegiate and international levels, combined with his background in coaching and player development, has shaped his approach to leading the Vikings. Mam earned his degree in Physical Activity and Exercise from Portland State in 2011.
