Val Klopfer is the director of player development for the University of Massachusetts Amherst women's basketball program in Amherst, Massachusetts, and she entered her second season in that position after joining the staff ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Klopfer arrived at UMass with more than 23 years of Division I coaching experience. In 2025-26, Massachusetts posted a 23-6 regular-season record and went 15-3 in conference play, earning the No. 3 seed in the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The Minutewomen recorded their first 20-win season since 2022-23 and ranked among the national leaders in several categories, including assists, steals, turnovers forced, and three-point percentage defense. Within the MAC, UMass finished first in opponent three-point percentage and ranked near the top of the league in scoring defense, assists, assist-to-turnover ratio, scoring margin, opponent field goal percentage, steals, and blocked shots.
