Tyra Carlsten Handberg

Tyra Carlsten-Handberg joined UCF Women’s Basketball as Executive Assistant ahead of the 2025-26 season. She previously spent two seasons as an Assistant Coach at Chadron State College, where she supported operations, coaching, and athlete development. A native of Stockholm, Sweden, she also brings international experience as both a player and coach, including work with Sweden Basketball’s U15 women’s national team and participation in FIBA’s Coaching Certificate program. Her collegiate career included time at Illinois-Chicago and Toledo, where she played 117 games and helped her teams earn multiple postseason appearances. After college, she played and coached professionally in Sweden and Spain, working as a trainer, nutritionist, and youth coach. Tyra earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Toledo and a master’s in Business Administration from Chadron State, combining her academic success with her passion for empowering student-athletes.
