Tyler Stakiwicz

Associate Head Coach

Tyler Stakiwicz is the associate head coach for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights men’s soccer program, entering his 10th season on the Banks during the 2025 campaign. A key member of Jim McElderry’s staff, Stakiwicz works primarily with the program’s goalkeepers and has played an instrumental role in developing one of the most productive goalkeeping units in Rutgers history. His tenure has coincided with a period of sustained growth for the program, including marquee wins over nationally ranked opponents, increased national recognition, and the development of professional-level talent. Among those he has mentored is David Greczek, Rutgers’ all-time saves leader and an MLS draftee, as well as a succession of Big Ten–honored goalkeepers. Stakiwicz was a central figure in Rutgers’ historic 2022 season, when the Scarlet Knights captured their first Big Ten Tournament Championship and first conference title since 1997, earning an NCAA Tournament berth for the first time since 2015. His work with goalkeeper Ciaran Dalton during that run helped produce All-Freshman and All-Tournament honors, and he later guided Dalton to continued Big Ten recognition. Prior to joining Rutgers, Stakiwicz spent more than a decade at Montclair State, serving as an assistant coach, goalkeeper trainer, and recruiting coordinator during a run of national and conference success. A New Jersey native, he played collegiately at Montclair State and later earned his Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School–Newark, combining deep regional ties, technical expertise, and long-standing commitment to player development.
