Tyler Self

Tyler Self serves as an assistant coach for the University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball program, contributing to the Chargers’ continued success in the Gulf South Conference. As a member of head coach Hunter Royer’s staff, Self plays a key role in player development, recruiting, scouting, and on-field instruction. His responsibilities include working closely with student-athletes to refine their technical skills, enhance baseball IQ, and prepare for conference and postseason competition. Through daily practice planning and individualized coaching, Self supports the program’s commitment to competitive excellence and academic achievement. Self brings a strong background in both playing and coaching to UAH. As a former collegiate athlete, he developed a deep understanding of the game’s fundamentals and the preparation required to compete at a high level. His transition into coaching has been marked by an emphasis on discipline, work ethic, and team-first mentality. Within the Chargers’ program, Self assists in fostering a culture built on accountability and growth, helping position players and pitchers alike reach their potential. His dedication to mentoring student-athletes contributes to the long-term stability and success of UAH baseball in Huntsville, Alabama.
