Tyler Helton is the associate head coach for the University of Connecticut men's ice hockey team in Storrs, Connecticut. A longtime member of the program, he entered the 2021-22 season in his fourth year as an assistant coach on Mike Cavanaugh's staff after first joining the coaching operation in fall 2013 as a student assistant and later serving five seasons as a graduate manager.
At UConn, Helton has worked with the defensemen, the penalty-kill unit and recruiting, while also contributing to scouting, practice planning, individual skill work and special teams instruction. He has handled all areas of team video, including opponent pre-scouting, postgame breakdowns, in-game video and statistical support, and the use of NHL clips as teaching material.
