Trevor Mierl
Assistant Coach
Trevor Mierl joined the University of North Alabama athletics staff in August 2025 as assistant coach for the men’s golf program. Working alongside Schmitz Family Head Men’s Golf Coach Austin Phillips, Mierl assists with the day-to-day preparation and development of the Lions, supporting on-course performance and overall program success. His familiarity with Phillips’ coaching philosophy stems from their time together at Cameron University, where Mierl competed under Phillips for two seasons and developed into one of the program’s standout performers.
A native of Austin, Texas, Mierl graduated from L.C. Anderson High School, where he served as team captain and finished runner-up at the 2021 Texas State Championship. At Cameron University, he posted a 73.53 scoring average over 34 rounds and ranked among the top freshmen in the region during the 2021–22 season. He recorded six top-20 finishes, set a program record with six eagles in a single season, and earned All-Lone Star Conference Academic All-American honors along with honorable mention all-conference recognition. Mierl later transferred to the University of Missouri, where he competed in 21 rounds, earned SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll and GCAA All-America Scholar honors, and completed his degree cum laude with a major in General Studies and a minor in Business. Throughout his collegiate career, he was active in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and volunteered extensively as a youth golf coach.
