Tony Stubblefield serves as an assistant coach for the University of Oregon men’s basketball program, returning to the Ducks’ staff prior to the 2024–25 season. He brings extensive experience at both the head coaching and assistant levels, including a recent three-year stint as head coach at DePaul from 2021 to 2024. Stubblefield is widely recognized for his recruiting expertise and long-standing association with head coach Dana Altman, having previously spent 11 seasons on Oregon’s staff. During that earlier tenure, he helped guide the Ducks to eight NCAA Tournament appearances, highlighted by five Sweet Sixteen runs, two Elite Eight berths, and a Final Four appearance in 2017.
A highly regarded recruiter, Stubblefield played a key role in assembling multiple nationally ranked recruiting classes at Oregon, including four classes ranked among the top 12 in the country. His recruiting efforts contributed to the development of several future NBA players, including Troy Brown Jr., Bol Bol, Payton Pritchard, and Chris Duarte. Before joining Oregon in 2010, Stubblefield served as recruiting coordinator at Cincinnati and held assistant coaching roles at New Mexico State, UTSA, UT Arlington, and his alma mater, Nebraska Omaha. As a player, he began his collegiate career at Clinton Community College before transferring to Omaha, where he was a team captain. His extensive experience in player development and recruiting continues to make him a valuable asset to Oregon’s coaching staff.
