Under his leadership, WWU has won three GNAC titles, captured two regular-season championships, and advanced to the NCAA Division II West Regional three times. Dominguez’s first season as head coach in 2012-13 was historic: the Vikings posted a 31-3 record, won the GNAC regular-season title, the West Regional, and reached the NCAA Division II Final Four. He was recognized as GNAC co-Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the Clarence "Big House" Gaines National Coach of the Year.
Dominguez’s influence extends beyond wins and losses. Prior to his head coaching role, he served as associate head coach and assistant for 17 years, contributing to NCAA Division II National Championships and multiple regional appearances. He has been instrumental in recruiting All-Americans and All-Conference athletes while fostering a strong academic culture, emphasizing graduation rates, career development, and diversity. Dominguez has also impacted the broader basketball community through summer camps, AAU teams, and the semi-pro Bellingham Slam. A native of Everett, Washington, he earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from WWU and an MBA from Concordia University (Wisconsin). He and his wife Kristi have three children and remain deeply engaged in supporting student-athletes on and off the court.
