Tina Langley was named the 12th head coach of the University of Washington women’s basketball program in April 2021 and has since led a remarkable turnaround in Seattle. Known for her emphasis on building a values-based culture, Langley quickly transformed a struggling team into a competitive force. After inheriting a roster that finished last in the Pac-12, she engineered a dramatic improvement, highlighted by a 12-game win increase in the 2022–23 season. By the 2024–25 campaign, Washington returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017 and gained national recognition, including a spot in early Top 25 projections. Her teams have excelled offensively and defensively, leading conference metrics while achieving program milestones in scoring, efficiency, and shot-blocking.
Prior to Washington, Langley built Rice University into a national contender, compiling a 126–61 record and leading the Owls to multiple conference championships and postseason titles, including the 2021 WNIT Championship. She earned Conference USA Coach of the Year honors and developed a reputation for player development, mentoring dozens of all-conference athletes and WNBA draft picks. Earlier in her career, Langley served as associate head coach at Maryland, contributing to Final Four appearances, and held assistant roles at Georgia, Clemson, and Toledo. Across more than two decades in coaching, she has consistently elevated programs while fostering academic success and strong team culture, solidifying her status as one of the top leaders in women’s college basketball.
