Tim Walton
Head Coach
Tim Walton, inducted into the NFCA Hall of Fame in 2024, enters his 21st season leading the Florida Gators softball program in 2026. Over his 20 seasons as Florida’s head coach, he has built an outstanding record of 1,028-255 (.801) at UF, and 1,151-319 (.783) in 23 seasons overall. In 2025, Walton notched his 1,000th win for UF, guiding the Gators to their 13th Women’s College World Series appearance as the No. 3 national seed.
His teams are known not just for winning but for balanced excellence—defensively (e.g. Gold Glove winners at catcher and center field), athletically (freshman All-Americans, strong pitching and hitting), and academically. He’s accumulated multiple SEC Coach of the Year awards, led Florida to two consecutive national championships (2014, 2015), several SEC regular season and tournament titles, and repeatedly deep postseason runs in the NCAA.
Before Florida, Walton was head coach at Wichita State and an assistant at Oklahoma, and as a player he pitched at Cerritos College and the University of Oklahoma, then played minor league baseball in the Philadelphia Phillies organization.
