Tim O'Toole is the chief of staff for Boston College men's basketball in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, joining the Eagles after nine seasons at Pittsburgh, where he served as associate head coach. His Division I career spans 34 years, including eight seasons as a head coach, and teams he has coached have reached postseason play 11 times. In January 2026, he was named to Silver Waves Media's list of the 100 Most Impactful High Major Assistant Coaches.
At Pittsburgh, O'Toole was part of a stretch of three straight winning seasons from 2022-23 through 2024-25. He was credited with the development of the Panthers' frontcourt and contributed to the team that earned an NCAA Tournament berth in 2022-23. Before Pitt, he spent two seasons at California as associate head coach. Cal posted the top scoring defense and best field goal defense in the Pac-12 during his tenure, and he worked closely with post players including Kingsley Okoroh, Kameron Rooks, and future NBA draft pick Ivan Rabb as the program returned to postseason competition.
