Biography:
Thomas Crowley brings decades of collegiate basketball experience to his role as an assistant coach for the men’s basketball team at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), joining the staff for the 2023-24 season. A graduate of The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1978, Crowley was captain of the Penn basketball team that advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 during his senior year. Shortly after graduating, he began his coaching career as an assistant coach with Penn and contributed to the Quakers’ run to the NCAA Final Four in 1979. Over the next several years, he built a strong coaching résumé with assistant positions at programs including Xavier, Rutgers, and Stanford.
In 1990, Crowley took on his first head coaching role at St. Michael’s College in Vermont, where he led the men’s basketball program for seven seasons before moving on to serve as head coach at Christian Brothers University in Tennessee. Following a season as an assistant at the University of Vermont, he transitioned into athletics administration, holding leadership roles such as Athletic Director at Niagara University, Associate Athletic Director at Butler University, and Assistant Commissioner of the Horizon League. This blend of coaching and administrative expertise enriches his contributions to TCNJ’s basketball program, where he supports daily operations, player mentoring, and competitive preparation.
