Taylor Wagner
Head Women's Basketball Coach
Taylor Wagner enters his 14th season (2025-26) as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Colorado Mesa University (CMU), where he is the second-longest tenured coach in the program’s history. He has amassed 294 career wins (entering 2025-26) and has guided his teams to eight NCAA Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight run in 2013 and Sweet Sixteen in 2014. Under his leadership, the Mavericks have won or shared seven Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) regular-season titles and four RMAC Tournament championships. One notable season was his first year at CMU, when he transformed a 13-14 team into a 31-2 squad that set an RMAC record with 25 consecutive regular-season victories and reached the NCAA Elite Eight.
Prior to CMU, Wagner spent eight seasons at Otero Junior College (La Junta, Colorado), where he compiled a 187-63 record, became the school’s all-time wins leader, and led his teams to multiple Region IX tournament appearances and academic honors. Wagner’s playing career began at Otero, then moved to the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he was a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and finished as his school’s No. 2 all-time three-point shooter and free-throw percentage leader. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Alaska Anchorage. Outside of coaching, Wagner and his wife Emillie have four daughters.
