Taylor van der Biezen
Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
Taylor van der Biezen serves as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the University of Miami women’s volleyball program, bringing a strong background in athlete development, recruiting strategy, and academic excellence to Coral Gables. She joined the Hurricanes after a three-year tenure at the United States Naval Academy, where she progressed from volunteer assistant coach to assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. During her time with Navy, van der Biezen helped guide the Midshipmen to a 47–35 overall record and a 28–20 mark in Patriot League play, highlighted by an appearance in the 2022 Patriot League Tournament final. Her efforts contributed to the development of nine All-Patriot League honorees, reflecting her impact on both team success and individual achievement.
Prior to Navy, van der Biezen served as a graduate assistant coach with the Bryant University women’s volleyball team while also leading the school’s men’s club volleyball program. While coaching at Bryant, she earned a Master of Business Administration, balancing leadership responsibilities with academic advancement. A former standout setter at Marist College, van der Biezen finished her collegiate playing career ranked among the program’s all-time leaders with 2,758 assists and 111 service aces. She was a two-time team MVP, a senior-year captain, and a three-time academic all-conference honoree. A native of Ashburn, Virginia, van der Biezen graduated from Marist with honors in finance, along with a minor in Spanish and a paralegal certificate, bringing a well-rounded perspective to her role developing Miami’s student-athletes on and off the court.
