Taylor Black
Assistant Coach
Taylor Black, born February 17, 1989, is an Assistant Baseball Coach at the University of Florida. He entered his fourth season with the Gators in 2026 after being hired in June 2022 under Head Coach Kevin O’Sullivan. Under his coaching, Florida has consistently performed at a high level—reaching the College World Series in two of his first three seasons and qualifying for the NCAA Tournament each year. Black has played a key role in reviving the team’s offense, especially through SEC play, and has been instrumental in guiding players like Colby Shelton, Brody Donay, Luke Heyman, and Bobby Boser to career-best performances.
Florida Gators
Before coaching at Florida, Black held positions in scouting and coaching at high levels. He served with the Detroit Tigers organization—ultimately as East Coast Crosschecker—after being a scout. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at NC State from 2014–2017, during which time the Wolfpack made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances with strong offensive and defensive numbers. As a player, Black starred at the University of Kentucky, was selected in the 16th round of the 2011 MLB Draft, and played professionally in both affiliated and independent leagues.
