Taya Battistella is in her second season as an assistant coach for the Western Washington University women’s golf program in 2025–26, bringing a wealth of competitive experience and recent high-level amateur success to the Vikings. A standout player in regional and international amateur golf, Battistella earned Washington Golf Women’s Mid-Amateur Player of the Year honors in both 2024 and 2025, along with the 2025 Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) Women’s Mid-Amateur Player of the Year award. Her impressive 2025 campaign also included a victory at the British Columbia Mid-Amateur Championship and strong performances in premier events, advancing to the Round of 32 at both the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur and the PNGA Women’s Amateur.
Battistella’s playing career extends back to a successful collegiate tenure at the University of Colorado and Portland State University. While at Portland State, she was a two-time Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Year, earning the honor in 2001 and 2003. Her combination of elite playing credentials and competitive insight enhances her ability to mentor and develop student-athletes at Western Washington. As part of the coaching staff, Battistella contributes to player development, recruiting, and program strategy, helping sustain the Vikings’ reputation as a competitive force in NCAA Division II women’s golf.
