Taj Benning is an assistant men's basketball coach at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut, having joined the staff before the 2023-24 season. He has been part of two 20-win seasons under head coach Chris Casey and helped the Stags reach the 2024 MAAC Championship Game.
Benning also starred at Fairfield as a player, appearing in 145 games over five seasons, the second-highest total in program history. He scored 1,175 career points, added more than 500 rebounds and 200 assists, and was part of Fairfield teams that advanced to the MAAC Championship Game in 2018 and 2021. A 2021 Fairfield graduate, he began his professional career with Cockburn in Australia's NBL1, averaging 16.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game.
