Sydney Wiese returned to Oregon State as an assistant coach after an accomplished playing career that cemented her as one of the most decorated athletes in program history. A Hall of Famer and former All-American, Wiese was a central figure in Oregon State’s rise to national prominence, helping lead the Beavers to three consecutive Pac-12 titles and a Final Four appearance in 2016. She left the program holding multiple records, including career assists and both career and single-season three-pointers, while earning All-Pac-12 honors in all four collegiate seasons. Known for her leadership, basketball IQ, and ability to connect with teammates and fans, Wiese’s legacy in Corvallis remains one of excellence and impact.
Following her collegiate career, Wiese was selected 11th overall in the 2017 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks and went on to play five seasons in the league, also spending time with the Washington Mystics. Her professional career extended internationally, with stops in Spain, Italy, and Turkey, where she continued to perform at a high level. After an injury paused her playing career, Wiese began transitioning into coaching at Bella Vista College Prep, focusing on guard development and player mentorship. Her return to Oregon State brings elite playing experience and a strong understanding of the program’s culture, positioning her to make an immediate impact in recruiting, player development, and continuing the Beavers’ tradition of success.
