Sydney Romero is an assistant coach for the University of Oregon softball program and a two-time NCAA national champion as both a player and coach. In her third season with the Ducks, she played a pivotal role in Oregon’s historic 2025 campaign, which included a Big Ten regular-season championship and a return to the Women’s College World Series. Romero’s defensive expertise helped guide the team to a program-record .980 fielding percentage, ranking among the best in the nation, while mentoring multiple All-America and all-defensive selections.
Before joining Oregon, Romero gained valuable coaching experience at Duke and Oklahoma. At Duke, she helped lead the Blue Devils to a Super Regional appearance while developing one of the nation’s top hitters. As a graduate assistant at Oklahoma, she contributed to back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022. Romero also brings an elite playing background, highlighted by two national titles at Oklahoma, Big 12 Player of the Year honors, and multiple All-America selections. She has continued her professional playing career in Athletes Unlimited and internationally with Team Mexico, adding a unique perspective as both an active player and coach.
