Sydney Lowe serves as Assistant Coach for University of Northern Iowa's Women's Volleyball program in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Lowe (née Petersen), the daughter of Panther head coach Bobbi Petersen, joins the Panther staff after spending two seasons as an assistant coach and English teacher at nearby Cedar Falls High School, where she was part of the Tigers’ Class 5A state tournament teams. In her first season on the Panthers' coaching staff, Lowe helped UNI post a 26-6 record to win the Missouri Valley Conference's (MVC) regular season and tournament championships for a fourth straight season.
Northern Iowa rattled off a 22-match winning streak during the year, which culminated in an NCAA Tournament appearance where UNI rallied from two sets down for a first round reverse sweep win over Utah. A Dike, Iowa native, Lowe was a standout defensive specialist/libero at Dike-New Hartford High School, helping the Wolverines to three Class 2A state championships (2014, 2016, 2017). After high school, she spent four seasons at the University of Texas, where she played on four NCAA Tournament teams with the Longhorns, which included an appearance in the spring 2021 national championship match. Lowe was part of four Big 12 championship teams with Texas, earning the starting libero position as a freshman and appearing in 113 matches with the Longhorns.
