Susie Matsutani
Assistant Coach
Dr. Susie Matsutani enters her 11th season on the Ramapo College softball coaching staff and her 17th overall season in collegiate softball since graduating from New Jersey City University in 2008. A volunteer assistant coach, she has been part of one of the most successful eras in program history, including the 2017 season when Ramapo captured the NJAC Regular Season Championship and the NCAA Regional Championship to advance to the program’s first NCAA Super Regional. That year, the coaching staff was recognized as the NFCA East Region Coaching Staff of the Year. Matsutani’s background as both a standout student-athlete and healthcare professional provides valuable insight into performance, conditioning, and athlete well-being.
A four-year standout infielder at NJCU (2005–08) under then-head coach Bridgette Quimpo, Matsutani was a two-year team captain and one of the top all-around players in program history. She remains NJCU’s all-time leader in triples (14) and assists (395) and is tied for first in games played and started (143) and double plays turned (25). She earned 2008 NJAC Second Team All-Conference and First Team All-Academic honors and was the program’s first Academic All-District selection. Matsutani holds a biology degree from NJCU and a doctorate in physical therapy from Dominican College (NY), and she practices in New Jersey and New York.
