Stu Holt
Special Teams Coordinator/Offensive Assistant
Stu Holt is in his 30th season as a coach and his fourth at Virginia Tech, where he currently serves as Special Teams Coordinator and Offensive Assistant (2025). Prior to this role, he held responsibilities including Special Teams Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach on offense and tight ends coach (2023–24) and running backs coach in 2022. His units have performed strongly: in 2024, VT’s special teams ranked first in the ACC (after ranking second in 2023). Over his tenure, Holt has coached multiple all-ACC players at Virginia Tech, including standout kickers, punters, and returners.
Before joining the Hokies, Holt amassed experience across major collegiate programs. He served as Special Teams Coordinator and Tight Ends coach at Louisville from 2019–2021, prior to that at Appalachian State (2015–2018) coaching special teams and running backs, and earlier at South Florida, Western Kentucky, Tennessee State, among others. He also spent time in high school coaching and graduate assistant roles early in his career. As a player, Holt was a long snapper at North Carolina (1992–95) and participated in several bowl appearances.
