Steve Welham is the head coach of the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team in Durham, New Hampshire, a position he has held since May 22, 2014. He signed a long-term contract extension in January 2026 after more than a decade leading the program through one of its most productive periods, marked by conference championships, postseason consistency, improved national standing, and a long list of academic and all-conference honors.
Since arriving at UNH, Welham has overseen two NCAA Championship appearances, in 2014 and 2022, and both followed America East tournament titles. The 2014 championship was the first conference tournament title and first NCAA berth in program history, and the 2022 title was the program's second. His teams also won the 2017 America East regular-season championship and reached the conference championship game in 2014, 2021, 2022, and 2024. Under his direction, New Hampshire qualified for the America East tournament every year from 2014 through 2025, including the Spring 2021 season that was played after the fall 2020 campaign was postponed. That 12-year run was noted in the source text as the longest active streak in the conference entering the end of the 2025 season.
