Steve Opperman is the head volleyball coach at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He enters his 29th season at Duquesne in 2026 and his 36th season overall as a head coach, having built the Dukes into a consistent Atlantic 10 contender while becoming the program's all-time wins leader with 393 victories at the school and more than 500 in his career.
Under Opperman, Duquesne reached its first Atlantic 10 regular-season and tournament titles in 2013 and made the first NCAA Championship appearance in program history that same year. His teams have appeared in 15 Atlantic 10 Championships overall, including 12 during his tenure, and 10 of those trips came over the past 15 conference tournaments. The 2025 season brought another milestone when he earned his 500th career win in a five-set victory over RMU on Sept. 6. Duquesne finished that season with 18 wins, its highest total since 2016, posted nine conference victories, its most since 2014, and advanced to the Atlantic 10 semifinals for the first time since 2021.
