Steve McFadden was named Interim Head Coach of the University of Washington’s Beach Volleyball program in September 2025, continuing in that role through the 2026 season. McFadden first joined the Huskies as an assistant coach in the summer of 2022, helping the program achieve national recognition with consistent Top-20 rankings. Under his guidance, Washington reached its first NCAA Championships and set multiple program records, including a 21-win season in 2023, seven ranked wins in 2024, and producing the program's first AVCA First Team All-Americans. His coaching emphasized player development, leading to All-Pac-12 honors for athletes like Piper Monk-Heidrich and Zoey Henson.
Before Washington, McFadden coached at Florida International University, where he helped the Panthers maintain a strong national presence, including upset victories over top-10 teams and developing multiple All-Americans. He also contributed to USA Volleyball’s development programs, coaching collegiate and national-level athletes. His coaching career began at Tamarack Beach Volleyball Club and continued at Laguna Beach High School, where he led teams to state championship runner-up finishes and IBVL Pairs titles. A native of Bridgewater, New Jersey, McFadden played competitively on the Jersey shores before moving to California, earning a AAA rating in the California Beach Volleyball Association. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from The College of New Jersey (2011).
