Steve Holmes
Volunteer Assistant Coach
Steve Holmes serves as the Volunteer Assistant Coach for the UCLA women’s golf program, a role he has held since 2013. A PGA Class A instructor and veteran teacher, Holmes has played an important part in developing UCLA’s elite players alongside head coach Alicia Um Holmes. His technical expertise in swing mechanics, short game precision, and mental performance has contributed to multiple NCAA Championship appearances and several All-American players during his tenure. Known for his hands-on coaching approach and clear communication style, Holmes emphasizes both athletic fundamentals and personal growth, helping student-athletes reach their highest potential on and off the course.
Beyond UCLA, Holmes is recognized as one of Southern California’s top golf instructors, working with elite juniors and professionals through his own golf academy. Over his career, he has helped guide several players to the No. 1 world amateur ranking and continues to mentor many who have advanced to collegiate and professional competition. A UC Irvine graduate, Holmes combines technical acumen with a strong developmental philosophy that has shaped generations of golfers. He resides in the Los Angeles area with his wife, Alicia Um Holmes, UCLA’s head coach.
