Steve Forbes is the head men's basketball coach at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, a position he has held since April 30, 2020. A longtime college coach with 30 years of experience, Forbes reached 400 career victories as a head coach on Feb. 11, 2026, and has compiled more than 100 wins at Wake Forest after earlier head coaching success at East Tennessee State and in the junior college ranks.
Since arriving at Wake Forest, Forbes has overseen one of the program's strongest multi-year runs in recent decades. The Demon Deacons posted 25 wins in 2021-22, the school's highest total since 2004-05, and matched the program record for ACC victories with a 13-7 conference mark. Wake Forest improved dramatically from the previous season, increasing its ACC win total from three to 13 and finishing fifth in the league standings, its best placement since 2010. The team also made its first postseason appearance since 2017, earned a No. 2 seed in the National Invitation Tournament, and advanced to the quarterfinals, the program's deepest postseason run since winning the NIT in 2000. Forbes was named ACC Coach of the Year after that season, while Alondes Williams was selected ACC Player of the Year and first-team All-ACC and Jake LaRavia earned second-team All-ACC honors.
