Steve Ellis is the co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach for the University of Louisville football program in Louisville, Kentucky. He joined the Cardinals as cornerbacks coach for the 2023 season and was elevated to co-defensive coordinator in 2026.
In his first two seasons at Louisville, Ellis oversaw a cornerback group that produced two NFL draft picks. Quincy Riley, who recorded five interceptions across those two years, was selected in the fourth round by the New Orleans Saints, and Jarvis Brownlee was chosen by the Tennessee Titans in the 2024 NFL Draft.
