Steph Chivers is the associate head coach for women's rowing at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Amherst, Massachusetts. She joined the UMass staff as an assistant coach in fall 2019 after four seasons at Cornell, including the 2018-19 campaign under head coach Eric Carcich, and was elevated to associate head coach before the 2023 spring season.
Before arriving at Massachusetts, Chivers coached at Cornell from 2015 to 2019, where two rowers earned All-Ivy League honors in her final two seasons. She also contributed to a bronze-medal finish in the Varsity Four at the 2016 Ivy League Championships, while Cornell's Third Varsity Eight finished just outside the medals in 2017. Earlier, she spent five seasons at George Washington, where the program placed fourth or better at the Atlantic 10 Championships in three of her final four years and she worked extensively with novice rowers. She previously coached novice boats at Nova Southeastern, where the Varsity Four won the 2009 NCAA Championship, and began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Ithaca in 2007-08.
