Stacey Turrell is entering her 14th season as the lead Assistant Coach for the Western Washington University Women’s Basketball program in 2025-26. She has played a central role in the Vikings’ recent successes, including six NCAA Division II Tournament appearances during her tenure, highlighted by a national championship game appearance in 2021-22. Under her guidance, WWU captured the GNAC regular-season titles in 2021-22 and 2022-23, along with the GNAC Tournament titles in 2023 and 2024. Turrell began her coaching career at WWU as a graduate assistant from 2004-06 while completing her master’s degree in education and later served as an assistant coach at Sehome High School, helping lead the Mariners to a state tournament appearance in 2006-07.
Turrell was a standout player at WWU, where she lettered three seasons from 2000-03 and served as team co-captain as a senior. She finished her collegiate career with 980 points, 458 rebounds, 180 assists, 102 steals, and 40 blocked shots, while setting a school record with a 44.3% three-point shooting percentage. She earned first-team WBCA and second-team Daktronics West Region honors and was a unanimous first-team GNAC all-star. A multi-sport athlete, Turrell also competed in volleyball at WWU and at Washington State University, excelling academically and athletically. She attended Sehome High School, earning all-state and MVP honors in basketball and volleyball. Turrell and her husband, Josh, have two children, Cole and Taylor.
