Skyler Burgess
Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
Skyler Burgess joined Colorado Mesa University’s men’s basketball staff as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach prior to the 2024–25 season, coming to the Mavericks after three years as an assistant coach at Regis University in Denver. Burgess began his playing career at Treasure Valley Community College (2012–14), helping the program win a conference championship in 2013–14. He then transferred to Pacific University (2014–16), where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and averaged 10.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, earning Second Team All-Northwest Conference honors.
Following college, Burgess played professionally overseas in Mexico, Spain, Armenia and Denmark, and also served in a player/coach role overseas. In the 2019–20 season in Armenia, he was named to an All-Star team and led the league in rebounding while earning Second Team All-League recognition. Later he worked as a video coordinator for the Kapfenberg Bulls in Austria (2020–21). At Colorado Mesa, Burgess contributes to recruitment, player-development, game planning and film analysis, supporting Head Coach Mike Dunlap and helping the Mavericks maintain competitive play in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). He was listed in the university’s staff directory as holding a Master’s degree from Regis University and a Bachelor’s from Pacific University.
