Skip Gleason is the associate head coach for the Eastern Washington University women’s basketball program, bringing extensive experience in defensive strategy, recruiting, and player development. Since joining the Eagles in 2021, he has played a key role in transforming the program into a Big Sky Conference contender. His defensive leadership has been instrumental in Eastern’s rapid improvement, highlighted by a 29-win season in 2023–24 that set a program record and included a conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Gleason’s units have consistently ranked among the top in the conference in turnover margin and defensive pressure, contributing to multiple award-winning performances by players.
Prior to Eastern Washington, Gleason spent five seasons at Seattle University as an assistant coach, where he served as recruiting coordinator and led defensive and scouting efforts. He helped guide the Redhawks to postseason appearances, including the NCAA Tournament in 2018, while mentoring conference award winners. Earlier in his career, he spent nine seasons at Humboldt State, contributing to multiple NCAA Division II Tournament appearances and conference championships, and also served as a head coach at the College of the Redwoods, earning conference Coach of the Year honors. A graduate of Chico State, Gleason has built a reputation for defensive excellence and program development, complementing a long-standing coaching partnership with his wife, Joddie Gleason.
