Shearyna Labasan is in her fifth season as the lead assistant coach for the Western Washington University women’s softball program, where she has been instrumental in guiding one of the top pitching staffs in NCAA Division II softball to national prominence. In 2024, Labasan helped lead the Vikings to a national runner‑up finish with a staff ERA of 1.86, and in 2025 she contributed to a Final Four appearance with a 2.03 team ERA, ranking among the nation’s top pitching units. During these seasons, Western’s pitching success was powered by standout arms such as Joie Baker, Alli Kimball, and Kaiana Kong, reflecting Labasan’s impact on developing elite pitchers and competitive depth.
Before transitioning to coaching, Labasan was a four‑year standout student‑athlete at WWU (2016–2019), where she excelled as a two‑way player across 154 games. As a pitcher she compiled a 37‑39 record with a 3.48 ERA, and at the plate she hit .348 with 95 runs, 26 doubles, 5 home runs, and 48 RBI — ranking in the WWU record books for pitching appearances, batting average, and runs scored. She earned First Team All‑GNAC honors and multiple all‑conference recognitions during her collegiate career. A native of Mililani, Hawai‘i, Labasan was a decorated high school player at Maryknoll High School, earning Gatorade State Player of the Year and multiple statewide honors before joining the Vikings.
