Shawn Elwood
Assistant Coach
Shawn Elwood enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Drew University women’s basketball program in 2024–25. Joining the Rangers’ staff brings him into the collegiate ranks after building a strong foundation at the high school level in New Jersey. At Drew, he contributes to player development, game preparation, and recruiting efforts as part of a program that has recently experienced historic success within the Landmark Conference.
Prior to arriving at Drew, Elwood served two seasons as the head girls basketball coach at Roxbury High School. During his tenure, he helped guide the program to a state tournament appearance for the first time in four years while overseeing steady improvement in the team’s record in both seasons. Before leading Roxbury, Elwood was the freshman girls basketball coach and a varsity assistant at Ridge High School, where he is also a physics teacher. In addition to his scholastic coaching experience, he has coached AAU basketball for the past three seasons, further broadening his experience in player skill development and competitive team building. His combined background in education and coaching reflects a commitment to mentorship, fundamentals, and long-term athlete growth.
