Shannon Jacobitti
Associate Head Coach, Virginia Tech Women’s Lacrosse (Blacksburg, Virginia
Shannon Jacobitti (née Gilroy) joined the Virginia Tech women’s lacrosse program in the summer of 2021 as the Associate Head Coach and has since become an instrumental leader in the program’s midfield and draw-unit development. Before arriving at Virginia Tech, she spent five seasons at Army West Point under Kristen Skiera, where she helped transform Army into one of the Patriot League’s most potent draw-control and offensive teams. At Virginia Tech, her primary focus has been on mentoring midfielders and overseeing draw control tactics. Under her guidance, VT achieved its best-ever draw control season in 2023, highlighted by freshman Sarah Gresham (111 draw controls) and Olivia Vergano (106+), making the Hokies the only NCAA Division I team that season with two players averaging over 5.5 draw controls per game. In 2025, she coached Mia Pozzi to All-ACC honors after a standout season (37 goals, 17 assists, and 51 draw controls).
As a player, Jacobitti was a decorated midfielder at the University of Florida, earning three All-American selections and twice being a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award. She retired among the NCAA Division I all-time leaders in career goals (256, tied for 8th) and points (320, tied for 16th). Following her collegiate career, she was drafted 10th overall into the United Women’s Lacrosse League to play for the Long Island Sound and competed on the U.S. Women’s National Team beginning in 2015. Her coaching resume also includes stops at Vanderbilt, where she worked with attack and midfield units prior to her Army tenure.
