Shaheen Holloway
Head Coach
Shaheen Holloway was named head men’s basketball coach at Seton Hall University on March 30, 2022, returning to his alma mater with a mission centered on what he calls the “Three D’s” — dedication, discipline, and development. In his second season (2023-24), Holloway led the Pirates to a 25-win campaign and the 2024 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) championship, marking the program’s first NIT title since 1953. Despite being projected to finish near the bottom of the BIG EAST preseason poll, Seton Hall posted a 13-7 conference record and a fourth-place finish. For his leadership, Holloway earned Peter A. Carlesimo All-Met Coach of the Year honors.
Prior to returning to South Orange, Holloway orchestrated one of the most remarkable runs in NCAA Tournament history as head coach at Saint Peter’s University, guiding the Peacocks to the 2022 Elite Eight — the first 15-seed ever to reach that stage. A former Seton Hall standout (1996-2000), Holloway remains the program’s all-time leader in assists (681) and was inducted into the Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012. He also served eight seasons as associate head coach at Seton Hall under Kevin Willard, helping build multiple NCAA Tournament teams and a 2016 BIG EAST Tournament championship squad. A Queens, New York native and McDonald’s All-American, Holloway enjoyed a professional playing career overseas and in U.S. minor leagues before transitioning into coaching.
