Selwyn Maxwell Jr. is the associate head track and field coach at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut, where he works with the Huskies' sprinters, hurdlers, and women's multi-event athletes. He was promoted to associate head coach on September 4, 2024, after serving on the UConn staff since 2021 as an assistant track and field coach.
Since Maxwell joined the program, UConn's men's and women's track and field teams have each captured four BIG EAST indoor and four BIG EAST outdoor championships, sweeping those titles from 2022 through 2025. At the 2025 BIG EAST Championships, six UConn athletes earned medals in the event groups he coaches. His athletes have included Gabby Davis, who set the school record in the 400-meter hurdles and advanced to the NCAA East First Round, and Maresa Hense, who earned second-team All-America honors in the heptathlon with a 15th-place national finish. In 2024, Maxwell also coached Mekhi Stone to a BIG EAST title in 47.13 in the 400-meter hurdles.
