Sean McKinney
Associate Head Baseball Coach
Sean McKinney has served on the Colorado Mesa baseball staff since the fall of 2008 and currently holds the title Associate Head Baseball Coach. A former two-year starter for the Mavericks (2005–06), McKinney earned All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) honors while helping the team secure two RMAC championships and two NCAA Western Regional appearances. He graduated in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from the then-Mesa State College.
In his professional development, McKinney earned a master’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Wyoming while attending the Major League Baseball (MLB) Scouting Bureau, and became an associate scout for the Colorado Rockies organization in 2008. He also served as head coach of the Laramie Rangers American Legion program in Laramie, Wyoming from 2007-09. McKinney assists with recruiting, works primarily with infielders, and has been tied closely to Colorado Mesa’s sustained success on the diamond.
