Sean Foley
Assistant Coach
Sean Foley joined the University of North Alabama men’s basketball staff in 2022 as Director of Basketball Operations before being promoted to Special Assistant to the Head Coach and, on June 11, 2025, to a full-time Assistant Coach under head coach Tony Pujol. Foley has played a key role in the Lions’ recent rise within the Atlantic Sun Conference, helping guide the program to a 24–11 overall record in 2024–25, its first ASUN Regular Season Championship, and its first-ever appearance in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT). Over the past three seasons, he has contributed to the development of seven all-conference selections, along with ASUN honorees including a Freshman of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and Sixth Man of the Year.
Foley has been particularly influential in shaping UNA’s offensive identity. In 2024–25, the Lions finished in the KenPom top 100 in offensive efficiency and ranked second nationally in turnover percentage, showcasing elite ball security. The team scored 2,753 total points and averaged 78.7 points per game, its highest scoring average since transitioning to Division I. Before arriving at UNA, Foley helped lead Christopher Newport to a 27–3 record and an Elite Eight appearance in the 2021–22 Division III NCAA Tournament. His previous experience includes roles at Eastern Nazarene College and several Maryland high schools, including a 3A state championship at C. Milton Wright. A graduate of McDaniel College, Foley holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees and remains active in professional development initiatives such as Rising Coaches.
