Sean Covich is the head coach of the West Virginia University men's golf program in Morgantown, West Virginia, a position he has held since May 22, 2014, when the school restored men's golf as a varsity sport after a 31-year absence. He was hired as the program's 12th head coach and has overseen its return from a restart to national postseason competition, including NCAA Championship qualification in 2023-24. After that season, he was named the 2024 Big 12 Conference Golf Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the 2024 Dave Williams Award, which recognizes the nation's top coach.
Under Covich, West Virginia developed from a new program into a team that has produced all-conference players, All-Americans, NCAA Regional qualifiers and professional golfers. Players coached by Covich who later competed professionally include Chad Ramey on the PGA Tour and Mark Goetz and Etienne Papineau on the Korn Ferry Tour. His rosters at the college level have included state junior players of the year, top-ranked junior college recruits and international players from more than 10 countries.
