Scott Rueck has established himself as one of the most respected leaders in women’s college basketball through his long-standing tenure as head coach at Oregon State University. A native of Hillsboro, Oregon, Rueck began his coaching career at the high school level before transitioning to collegiate coaching. He first gained national recognition at George Fox University, where he built a powerhouse NCAA Division III program, leading the Bruins to a national championship in 2009 and multiple deep tournament runs. His success at George Fox laid the foundation for his move to Oregon State in 2010.
At Oregon State, Rueck engineered one of the most impressive program turnarounds in the country. Taking over a struggling team, he quickly developed the Beavers into a Pac-12 contender and national force. Under his leadership, Oregon State reached the NCAA Final Four in 2016 and consistently returned to the NCAA Tournament, capturing conference titles along the way. Known for his emphasis on player development, disciplined defense, and strong team culture, Rueck has coached numerous All-Americans and professional players. His impact extends beyond wins and losses, as he is widely recognized for fostering academic success and leadership among his student-athletes, solidifying his legacy as a cornerstone of Oregon State athletics.
