Scott Power was named head football coach at Central Washington University on December 30, 2025, beginning his first season leading the Wildcats in 2026. A veteran defensive strategist, Power brings extensive experience from across the collegiate ranks, including recent roles at the University of Wisconsin and Western Michigan. Known for building aggressive, turnover-focused defenses, he has consistently produced high-performing units, highlighted by a 21-turnover season at Western Michigan and the development of NFL Draft pick Bilhal Kone. His defenses have earned national rankings in key statistical categories, and he has coached numerous all-conference and All-American players throughout his career.
Power’s coaching résumé includes impactful stops at Louisiana Tech, Stephen F. Austin, and Texas A&M–Commerce, where his defenses ranked among the nation’s best in areas such as passing defense, takeaways, and tackles for loss. Notably, he previously served as defensive coordinator at Central Washington from 2016 to 2017, where he engineered one of the top defenses in Division II, leading the nation in rushing defense and sacks while helping the Wildcats to an undefeated regular season. Earlier in his career, he contributed to a national championship run at Marian University and began coaching at Wartburg College. A former collegiate player at Wisconsin–Platteville and Hanover, Power also played professionally before transitioning into coaching. He is widely recognized for his recruiting success, player development, and ability to build elite defensive systems.
