Scottie Hazelton is the defensive coordinator for Wake Forest football in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he completed his first season with the Demon Deacons in 2025 while also coaching the linebackers. A veteran coach with three decades of experience, he has held defensive coordinator positions across multiple Division I programs and has worked in both college football and the NFL.
Wake Forest was Hazelton's third Power-4 stop as a defensive coordinator, following previous assignments at Michigan State from 2020 through 2023 and Kansas State in 2019. In his first year at Wake Forest, the defense showed broad improvement. The Demon Deacons recorded four interceptions and 11 fumble recoveries, cut nearly 10.5 points per game from the previous season's scoring average allowed, gave up more than 100 fewer yards of total offense per game than in 2024, and nearly halved the number of passing touchdowns surrendered. Wake Forest also reduced red-zone touchdowns by nearly 20 percent.
