Scott Bittner
Head Coach
Scott Bittner is in his 10th season as head coach of the Stockton University men’s basketball program and his 20th year overall on the Ospreys’ coaching staff. Since taking over in 2016, he has compiled a 152-80 record (.655 winning percentage), leading Stockton to four NCAA Tournament berths, one NJAC championship, and one ECAC championship. His recent success includes guiding the Ospreys to a 19-9 record and a fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, matching the longest streak in program history. In 2021-22, Bittner led Stockton to a 26-5 record, capturing the NJAC title and earning both NJAC Coach of the Year and NABC District 4 Coach of the Year honors as the team advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.
Prior to becoming head coach, Bittner spent 10 seasons as an assistant and associate head coach under Gerry Matthews, contributing to a 217-74 record, six NCAA Tournament appearances, five NJAC championships, and a berth in the 2009 NCAA Division III national championship game. A former standout player, Bittner scored 1,681 career points at Wheeling Jesuit University, earning Division II All-American honors in 1994 and three All-WVIAC selections. He was inducted into the Wheeling Jesuit Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. Bittner also coached at Bishop Eustace and St. Augustine Prep before returning to Stockton, where he continues to build upon the program’s strong tradition.
